Lady Jackets Advance in Playoffs

Aynor Blue Jackets’ girls soccer team continues their championship quest beating the Cane Bay Cobras in round one of the lower state playoffs.

Junior, Jordan Shetzline, scored the first goal for either side with twenty-five minutes in the first half.  Cane Bay retaliated tying the game one to one at the end of the first half.

Both teams played hard during the second half with a couple of close shots blocked by Aynor goalie, Karlie Bennett.  The end of the second half left the game tied still at one to one, sending it into overtime.

Jordan Shetzline scored again during the first half of overtime putting the Lady Jackets ahead two to one and sending fans to their feet.  Cane Bay rallied again in the last thirty seconds of the game, but couldn’t get it past the skilled hands of Bennett.

Jordan gave thanks to God and said that it was a complete team effort.

Coach Michelle Altman said, "Jordan really hustled and her goals obviously helped win the game,  Erica McCracken hustled and worked her butt off.  Karlie Bennett is an outstanding goalie and without her, I don't know where we would be.  Most of these girls have only played soccer three years and I'm really proud of them.

Lady Jackets play #1 seated Waccamaw on Wednesday, May 12 at Waccamaw.
