Passing the swim test to become an ocean lifeguard takes skill, stamina and speed. Guards are required to swim 500 meters in 10 minutes or less. After completing the swim test, guards for North Myrtle Beach also must successfully complete a 44-hour Lifeguard Academy and receive certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The swim clinics will give potential lifeguards the chance to evaluate and improve their swimming skills.
Those interested in participating in the swim clinics must register with Beach Patrol prior to the clinic. To register or for more information, please contact Beach Patrol at (843) 281-3820.
