#35 Coastal Carolina Opens 2012 With 7-1 Win over James Madison; Saturday’s Schedule Changes

CONWAY – For the seventh consecutive season, the 35th-ranked Coastal Carolina claimed a victory in its season opener, defeating defending Colonia Athletic Association champion and 2011 NCAA Chapel Hill Regional finalist James Madison, 7-1, Friday night before an overflow crowd of 1,227 in the second game of the Caravelle Resort Tournament at Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field. The rest of the tournament schedule has been altered due to the threat of inclement weather.
Coastal Carolina Baseball to Play VMI on ESPNU in April; Opens 2012 This Weekend

CONWAY – The Big South Conference announced today the April 15 Coastal Carolina-VMI baseball contest, played at CCU’s Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field, will be televised on ESPNU. First pitch is set for 2 pm.

Rockingham Speedway to hold NCWTS and K&N Pro Series Tire Test March 6-7; Whelen Southern Modifieds to test rubber on April 18
Grandstands will be open for fans to watch tests
Rockingham, N.C. (February 15, 2012) - In advance of NASCAR's return to the Rockingham Speedway, Goodyear will be holding tire tests for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and K&N Pro Series East on March 6-7 and the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour will be on site on April 18.
Something Old and Someone New with Empire Racing at Daytona ARCA Race
(MOORESVILLE, NC – FEB. 15, 2012) Empire Racing heads to Daytona with something old and something new. “New” is Ben Leslie, newly named as crew chief for the No. 82 Roush Yates Engines Ford Fusion. Competing in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, Empire’s driver, Sean Corr will be behind the wheel of the “old” Ford Fusion racer.

Coastal Carolina Men’s Golf Places 13th at San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Coastal Carolina men’s golf team placed 13th in the 15-team San Diego Intercollegiate, played at the 7,033-yard, par 72 San Diego Country Club. The Chanticleers posted a 54-hole score of 930 (310-315-305) over the two-day event.
